We invite proposals for workshops and seminars for the 15th annual Conference and Members’ Meeting of the Text Encoding Initiative Consortium (TEI—http://www.tei-c.org). This annual event is an excellent opportunity to share expertise in the TEI, and to convene working group discussions.

Workshops

Workshops provide an opportunity for participants to work together on TEI-related topics. They are open to all delegates of the TEI Members’ Meeting and Conference.

Seminars

Seminars offer training to participants in the TEI, or aspects of it. They are led by experts.

We invite proposals for individual papers, panel sessions, posters, and demonstrations for the 15th annual Conference and Members’ Meeting of the Text Encoding Initiative Consortium (TEI—http://www.tei-c.org).


The power of the TEI is realized in interactions, between texts, between programs, between practices, and between members of its community. This theme invites considerations of technical and social applications and approaches, both to the practice of encoding and to the development of local and international communities of use. It includes training in the TEI and related areas, for example incorporating the digital into traditional forms of editing. Subscriptions 2011 through 2015 now available

The TEI webstore is now selling individual subscriptions through 2015. Go to http://www.tei-shop.org/ and select “Join the TEI.”

Individual subscribers help support the TEI both financially and by demonstrating the breadth of our support in the community. In addition to supporting the TEI, individual subscribers also are eligible for a number of benefits, including 1/2 price conference registration and a discount on Oxygen licences.

P5 release 1.7 now available

TEI P5 release 1.7.0 is now available from Sourceforge at https://sourceforge.net/projects/tei/files/ and also online at http://www.tei-c.org/release/doc/tei-p5-doc/en/html/index.html

This release introduces significant additional features to the way in which the ODD system for TEI customization may be expressed. The new features introduced allow a customization to be expressed by inclusion (specifying only the elements it requires) rather than by exclusion (specifying the elements which it does not require). They also permit specification of a particular version of the Guidelines as source for a schema.
